Welcome to the Montgomery Development Education Centre (MDEC) website. MDEC is an Aberdeen based organisation, covering the whole of the North-East of Scotland. We are the education section of the Aberdeen Third World Centre. The Centre is part of the International Development Education Association of Scotland (IDEAS). This is a network of over 40 organisations and individuals involved in Development Education and Education for Global Citizenship/Sustainable Development Education across Scotland.

Granite City Fairtrade

Interested in promoting Fairtrade in and around Aberdeen as well as throughout Scotland? The Granite City Fairtrade group aims to bring together like-minded folk through their ning social networking site. There are competitions for Fairtrade fortnight, 'banana phone' video clips and blogs from members.

UNCRC Twilight Course 18th March

We have rearranged our course on the United Nations Convention for the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) to Wednesday 18th March 4.15-6pm. The course will consider the need to integrate rights and responsibilities across the curriculum and whole school; give an opportunity to try out classroom activities linked to the UNCRC and browse resources linked to the UNCRC.

We've got plenty of ideas for you to use in the classroom and as whole school projects. Order free promotional materials from the Fairtrade Foundation to help publicise your events. Win a basket of Fair Trade goodies for your class!

Winning is easy! All your pupils have to do is to create a 60 second video clip promoting Fair Trade with a Scottish flavour. Pupils might choose to compose a rap, poem or song, create an animation or perform a piece of drama.
